As far as I'm concerned, the family room is the heart of the home.
We wanted to make ours cozy and comfortable yet big enough to hold big gatherings.
We had a wall that we wanted to move back to make it a bit wider (that green wall below), but found out that is was load-bearing, which made things tricky.
So we opted to put the fireplace in it. We wanted to put a long, linear one in there.
It was a serious process to pick out that sucker.
I met up with a guy to go through fireplace after fireplace.
We finally settled on one and cut a huge hole out for it.
(The rest of that wall is lode-bearing.)
So many decisions on how to finish off walls.
And trying to figure out how to make the ceiling look not boring, but not fancy.
And there we go with the fireplace finally installed.
Now we just have to figure out how to finish that sucker off.
And how to make this large room cozy and comfortable.
Send ideas on over if you have some!
